Board of Education: Leslie, Hagedorn, Menefee Sworn In; Wood Elected President
The School District of Washington’s Board of Education held a reorganization meeting on Friday morning, April 10, at the District Office.
4-21 to 4-29: MAP Testing. Please have students bring their wired earbuds for testing. Non-wired earbuds will not be allowed.
May 1 & 4: Algebra EOC Testing
As the school year begins to wind down, I want to reach out with some information for our WMS Summer School offerings. Summer school at WMS is remediation only and we only offer our four core classes: Math, Social Studies, Science, and English/Language Arts. All classes are through an online program, but students will be required to be at the school for the first week of summer school.
WMS Summer School Dates:
May 26,27,28, June 1,2,3,4 - 8,9,10,11 - 15,16,17,18 - 22,23,24,25
No school on Friday, June 19th
This will take place from 8:00-11:00am
You will be receiving another ParentSquare message prior to May 1 if your student is recommended or required to attend summer school.
8th graders: You can register for WHS Summer School classes at this time. Sign-ups are on the WHS webpage under the student tab. If you have any questions, see Ms. Mathes.
D&D Club has finished meetings for this year.
April 14: Stuco Conference at Unon High School, Epsilon Beta Book Club from 3:30-4:30 pm, Cheer Open Gym/WHS LBJG/6:00-7:30 pm., and 8th grade Solo/Ensemble Band Competition 3:30 pm in the WHS band room.
Current 6th, 7th, & 8th Graders: If interested in trying out for cheer next year, the next open gym is April 14 in the WHS Little Blue Jay Gym from 6:00-7:30 pm.
April 15: Orchestra performs @ Homestead at Hickory View and WMS Track Meet at 4:00 pm
April 16: Stuco meets at 8:00 am, Brain Bowl meets 3:30-4:30 pm, and the Owensville Relays start at 3:30 pm.
Current 6th & 7th graders: Cheer tryouts for next school year are this April 28, 29 & 30 from 6:00-7:30 pm. Current 8th graders: Cheer tryouts for the high school next year are this April 21st from 5:00-7:00 pm, April 22nd from 5:00-6:30 pm, and April 23rd from 5:00-7:00 pm. Pick up a flyer in the office for detailed information and scan the QR code to register for tryouts. You will need to create an athletic account on the WHS website and upload your sports physical. You will not be able to tryout unless this is complete. Email Shauna Boehmer at shauna.boehmer@sdowmo.org with any questions.

Washington Middle School recently recognized its students of the week for February and March, 2026. The students were nominated by their team’s teachers as part of the #Blue Jay Way-Positive Behavior.

The Washington High School Agriculture Department and FFA are holding a spring plant sale on Saturday, April 25, at the WHS Greenhouse, located behind the West Wing, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
